The City of Norfolk is committed to being the best city in the nation for active duty military, National Guard members, reservists, veterans, and their families to live, work, recreate, gain knowledge and maintain their physical and mental health.

In order to meet this commitment, Norfolk has created an executive level Veteran Services and Military Affairs position and will employ a place-based strategy that leverages human, financial, organizational and technology resources to connect service members, veterans, and family members to the right programs, resources or benefits, at the right time.

In short, the City will facilitate the transition of veterans from active duty to the private sector in a “Well After Service.”
